PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was injured late Tuesday night due to a multi-vehicle wreck involving a hit-and-run driver near north Waller, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred on the northbound lanes of SR-167 (River Road) just past Gay Road, southeast of Tacoma. It was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer at 11:30 p.m.
Details remain limited, but officials said three cars were involved, and one of the drivers fled the scene on foot.
One of the other involved drivers suffered possibly serious injuries. They were transported to an area hospital where their condition remains undisclosed.
The event prompted a closure of the northbound highway, as well as the right southbound lane.
Washington State Patrol troopers and Riverside Fire and Rescue crew members were working the scene. Washington State Department of Transportation – Tacoma personnel were called to the area to assist with traffic control.
