PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A vehicle crash early Wednesday afternoon blocked an HOV lane on State Route 16 near the Tacoma Central shopping center, according to Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident occurred on the eastbound lanes at milepost 1.16, near the exit to South Union Avenue. It was first reported by WSDOT at 12:07 p.m.
Collision on SR 16 EB at MP 1.16 near S Union Ave beginning at 12:05 pm on Dec. 29, 2021 until further notice. The HOV lane is blocked.

By 12:41 p.m., about half an hour later, the scene was reported cleared.
