KING COUNTY, WA — Five juveniles were taken into custody Wednesday morning after an attempted carjacking and a two-vehicle crash in Renton, according to KOMO News.
Renton Police Department officials said they were first alerted to a possible bank robbery in the area of 53 Southwest Boulevard at about 9:43 a.m., but soon learned that five juvenile suspects had been involved in an attempted carjacking.
According to the RPD, one of the juveniles brandished a gun at a man in the bank’s parking lot in an attempt to take his vehicle, but the group ultimately fled the area in another vehicle.
Area officers had already been notified of the suspect vehicle when it was later pursued down SR-167. At one point, the vehicle sped past a red light and collided with another vehicle near East Valley Highway and Southwest 41st Street.
While the five juveniles, all between 12 to 16 years of age, tried to flee the crash scene on foot, they were apprehended and arrested following a foot pursuit.
No injuries were reported following the collision at the intersection, but all five juveniles were transported to King County Youth Detention Center after being connected to an armed carjacking earlier that morning in Tukwila.
