SEATTLE, WA — A major intersection in Seattle’s Pike/Pine neighborhood was shut down Monday morning following a crash that set live wires loose, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.

The accident took place at the corner of 12th Avenue and East Madison Street, near Seattle University and Seattle Academy Middle School. SDOT reported about the closure at 7:42 p.m.

While officials have not disclosed the circumstances of the wreck or the number of vehicles involved, live intersection was blocked off in all directions as crews attended to live wires that were knocked down. Motorists were instructed to seek alternate routes around the scene.

Shortly after 8:50 p.m., over an hour later, the area was reopened to the public.
