News: 70-year-old man seriously injured after being trapped beneath construction excavator

RENTON, WA – According to authorities, a 70-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being trapped beneath a construction excavator in Renton on Thursday, reports KOMO News.

Crews with the Renton Fire Department arrived at the scene around 1 p.m. at a construction site on the 2700 block of Lynnwood Avenue Northeast. They were able to free the man by lifting the excavator using hydraulic tools.

The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. At this time, there is no update on his condition.

The Department of Labor & Industries is investigating the circumstances of the accident. An update will be provided if more details come to light.
