SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — Everett Police and Fire Department crews responded to an incident involving a fiery crash Friday night at a Fred Meyer store in south Everett, reports KIRO 7 Seattle.

The wreck occurred at the location on 8530 Evergreen Way. Officers responded to the scene at about 6:00 p.m.

According to authorities, a man in his 50s drove a car through the front entrance of the building, causing the wrecked vehicle to catch on fire. Responding officers had to negotiate with the male driver to exit the vehicle after he was observed pouring gasoline on himself following the collision.

After he was able to leave the car, the male driver was transported to a local hospital as fire crews and police worked to extinguish the flames.

At this time, the severity of the man’s condition has not been disclosed, but no other injuries were reported. Officials noted the vehicle fire did not extend to the building.

An investigation by the Everett Police Department was in progress.
