News: Thousands lose power after DUI suspect hits pole in West Seattle

by | Sep 9, 2022 | Accidents in the News |

SEATTLE, WA — More than 4,600 Seattle City Light customers lost power early Thursday after a vehicle struck a utility pole in West Seattle’s North Admiral area, reports West Seattle Blog.

The wreck took place at the corner of 47th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Admiral Way. By 1:40 a.m., a SCL city map indicated a power outage impacting several thousand area residences and businesses.

Damage to the pole caused it to become “completely disconnected,” with wires strewn on the roadway.

Details remain limited at this time, but Seattle Police confirmed the driver of the striking vehicle was arrested for suspected intoxication.

Admiral Way was shut down in both directions at the intersection as SCL crews worked to restore power. The intersection remained closed for several hours but was reopened at 2:00 p.m.
