News: Pregnant woman hurt in crash with serial hit-and-run driver near Arlington

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A pregnant woman was hospitalized Tuesday evening after one of several crashes caused by a DUI suspect near Arlington, according to FOX13 Seattle.

The injury collision occurred in the 9300 block of Washington Highway 9, just north of 84th Street Northeast. It was first reported by the Washington State Patrol shortly before 4:30 p.m.

Officials said Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies had initially been called to the scene of a hit-and-run crash and many near-crashes caused by a wrong-way driver.

The suspect sped away from Sheriff’s deputies, who decided not to pursue him. About 10 minutes later, they received a report of a five-vehicle wreck on SR-9.

Even as his own car flipped in the crash, the suspect got out of the wreckage and carjacked a bystander’s vehicle before fleeing again.

A seven-months pregnant woman suffered minor injuries in that crash and was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect was later apprehended by Snohomish County deputies and Arlington Police officers in Smokey Point, where a PIT maneuver was conducted. He was taken into custody for multiple offenses, including “attempting to elude, hit-and-run, driving under the influence and taking a motor vehicle without permission.”
