News UPDATE: Driver dies after crashing into parked semi on I-90 in North Bend

KING COUNTY, WA — A 57-year-old man has died days after a serious crash Monday, May 23, involving a parked semi-truck on Interstate 90 in North Bend, reports the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened on the westbound lanes near milepost 40 at around 2:00 p.m.

Officials said the man was behind the wheel of a black 1995 GMC Sonoma pickup truck heading westbound in lane 2 when he veered into lane 3. He then overcorrected and traveled across lanes two and one before colliding with the semi and its hitched van, which were parked on the right shoulder.

Eastside Fire & Rescue crews responded to the scene, where the victim had to be extricated before he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The hospital’s medical staff later confirmed with WSP that the patient was pronounced deceased on the following Tuesday, May 29th.
