KING COUNTY, WA — A 57-year-old man was seriously injured Monday afternoon when his pickup truck hit a parked semi-truck on Interstate 90 near North Bend, reports FOX13 Seattle.

The Washington State Patrol said the accident happened on the westbound lanes near milepost 40 at about 2:00 p.m.

An early investigation shows the victim was driving westbound in lane 2 when he veered into lane 3. He then overcorrected the pickup across lanes 2 and 1 before striking the semi, which was parked on the right shoulder.

Eastside Fire & Rescue crews had to extricate the victim, who had become trapped in his pickup. After his removal, the patient was airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

All westbound lanes of I-90 were temporarily shut down during the response but reopened at 4:00 p.m.

No further information has been shared at this time.
