SNOMOMISH COUNTY, WA — Multiple emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash Friday afternoon on State Route 522 in southwest Monroe, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The collision occurred on the westbound highway just before West Main Street. It was first reported by the WSDOT at 12:50 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the wreck, but all westbound lanes of SR-522 were closed as a result.

By 1:00 p.m., the Washington State Patrol, fire crews, medics, and Monroe Police had all responded to the scene.

A photo taken at the scene suggests at least two vehicles were involved, and a traffic backup can be seen just behind the accident.

Motorists were asked to find alternate routes.

At 1:45 p.m., tow crews had arrived to begin clearing the scene, leaving only the right lane blocked. All other lanes were reopened to traffic.

No injuries have been reported as of this writing.
