WHATCOM COUNTY, WA — Multiple emergency crews were called to a vehicle wreck Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in north Bellingham, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The accident happened on the southbound interstate just north of Meridian Street. It was first reported by the WSDOT at 10:41 a.m.

Authorities have not said what led up to the crash or how many vehicles were involved, but up to two left lanes were blocked during the emergency response.

Washington State Patrol, WSDOT’s Incident Response Team (IRT), Fire Assistance, and Medical Aid crews were all at the scene.

By 11:16 a.m., tow crews had arrived at the site and only one left lane remained blocked.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
