PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 54-year-old Graham woman died Saturday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on State Route 512 near Puyallup, according to The News Tribune.

The accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of SR-512 near Canyon Road East at approximately 12:30 p.m.

According to Washington State Patrol, a 48-year-old Bonney Lake woman was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima east when the vehicle ran off the roadway and collided with a tree.

The Graham woman, who was the Nissan’s only other occupant, was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. She was later pronounced deceased, confirmed authorities.

The event left the road in the area closed for several hours as an investigation was conducted.

WSP said the Bonney Lake woman was suspected of driving under the influence and now faces a vehicular homicide charge.
