GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY, WA — A 34-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital Monday evening after a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 near Hoquiam, according to GHScanner.

The crash happened on the southbound lanes of US-101 near Youmans Road, or East Hoquiam Road, at approximately 6:07 p.m.

The woman was at the wheel of a 2010 Kia Forte going southbound on the freeway when the vehicle’s tires gave out, causing her to lose control of the Kia. The car then traveled across the roadway and entered Youmans Road, where it struck a 2020 Honda CRV that had just turned right onto the road from the freeway.

The woman was transported to Bowerman Airport where she was airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center.

The driver of the Honda CRV, a 60-year-old man, was not reported injured.

The woman is currently facing a charge of negligent driving in the second degree for her defective tires.
