Wrong-way driver causes four accidents, one of them fatal

We all get busy, rushed, distracted and even intoxicated. When in the proper environment and handled correctly, these tend to be fine. However, when one is behind the wheel, this is a dangerous combination, like when a driver is under the influence of alcohol. The driver may not be able to operate the vehicle safely, even causing the vehicle to travel in the wrong direction and colliding with another vehicle in a head on crash.

For example, according to reports, authorities in Washington State were recently dispatched to a wrong-way collision. The accident took place on Interstate 5 in Marysville. Occurring around 4 p.m., the crash took place just south of 530.

Based on police reports, a man in a Ford Explorer was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when the vehicle collided with a Toyota Corolla. This head-on crash resulted in the Corolla rolling over, landing in a cable barrier. A passenger inside of the Corolla was killed in the crash.

Three other accidents occurred because of the debris from this crash. The wrong-way driver, a 56-year-old man, was arrested for a DUI. He could face charges for vehicular homicide. The investigation is still ongoing, and it is not clear if anyone else was harmed in the crash.

Following a fatal crash, loved ones have many questions. It is hard to wrap one's head around the idea that a negligent driver took the life of a family member. While no amount of money can bring them back, it is possible to receive a monetary award through a civil action. A wrongful death claim not only holds a negligent driver accountable, but also assists with the collection of compensation to address damages and loses suffered.
