Just like an individual, every organization has an identity. At the Law Offices of Matthew D. Dubin, our identity is defined by our core values. Our commitment to these values makes us who we are, and allows us to provide a consistently excellent experience to our personal injury clients.
Last week we had an office-wide staff meeting to discuss our goals and values for the coming year. I opened the meeting with a discussion of some of our core values: empathy, compassion, excellence, and teamwork. After a group discussion, we added honesty and communication. These are our organizational core values and each member of our team has committed to upholding these values in every interaction with our injured clients. I’d like to take a moment to discuss each of these values and explain what it means to me:
Empathy and Compassion. Our clients are hurt and distressed. Their lives have been disrupted and they are entering a process that nobody ever bothered to explain to them. They are scared and angry and it seems like everything is stacked against them. It is our job to explain the process and guide our clients through it. When we are conscious of what our clients are feeling and how they are experiencing this situation, we are better able to help them with patience and grace.
Excellence. Caring is important, but it’s certainly not enough. We at the Law Offices of Matthew Dubin are committed to being consistently excellent in everything we do. Our attorneys and staff members are continuously attending classes and seminars to stay current with the law, and to provide our clients with the best legal representation available anywhere.
Teamwork. Each member of our team is exceptional, but it is when we work together that the magic really happens. Our attorneys collaborate and discuss difficult legal issues. Our legal assistants work together to make sure that not a single client concern falls through the cracks. When we work together toward a common goal, we provide an experience that can’t be matched, and our clients get the level of service that every injured person deserves.
Honesty. Our “Client Bill of Rights” states: “While we are on your side, we will not sugar-coat the truth. We will tell you the good and the bad about your case and empower you to make the decisions that are best for you and for your family.” This commitment to honesty with our clients is the foundation for a meaningful, trust-based relationship with each of our clients. Telling the truth isn’t always easy, but it is ALWAYS the right thing to do.
Communication. The single most common complaint people have about their lawyers is lack of communication and lack of responsiveness. At the Law Offices of Matthew Dubin we have procedures in place to make sure this is not a concern. Our attorneys and legal assistants have automated reminders to maintain regular personal communications with each client. Additionally, we are dedicated to promptly and meaningfully reply to each client concern. While our legal assistants can address most client concerns, every client has an absolute right to speak directly to her lawyer.
Our individual and collective commitment to these core values makes us who we are, and allows us to provide a consistently 5-star experience for every one of our personal injury clients. By discussing them and reaffirming our dedication to them, we make them real, and we hold each other accountable to act consistently with them in all our interactions.
