Car accidents widespread during recent snow storm

Winter weather has recently hit Seattle and the surrounding areas hard. While the first two major storms were relatively quiet, the most recent storm has left a string of car accidents for people to deal with. According to reports, people in the area saw anywhere from two to six inches of snow. Some cities even saw as much as seven inches. These snow totals left the roads dangerous and has been blamed for a number of accidents in the area.

According to reports, Thurston and Pierce County saw over 200 car accidents during the latest storm. King County saw over 150 accidents. Police urged people to stay off the roads, yet witnesses still say that they saw dozens of cars that had spun out or ended up in local ditches. Another car is said to have flipped over.

Finally, a fatal car accident was even reported on SR-9 near Lake Stevens. In this case, police say that speed and the poor weather conditions led to a collision between two cars. This accident left a man in his 60s dead.

In difficult driving conditions, like those during the recent storm, drivers need to take extra precautions if they have to drive on area roads. Drivers need to slow down, keep their eyes and mind on the road and quickly react to changing conditions. If drivers fail to take precautions when the conditions are dangerous, serious accidents can occur.

Victims of car accidents can suffer serious injuries that can quickly become expensive. Medical treatments and time lost at work can create a difficult financial situation. Car accident victims have legal options in these cases and can seek compensation from a negligent driver. When a driver fails to drive reasonably in certain weather conditions, that driver can be held financially responsible for any damage caused during a car accident.
