SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA – A vehicle accident Monday afternoon caused significant delays on northbound Interstate 5 near Stanwood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The wreck occurred near Exit 215 to 300th Street Northwest, or Freeborn Road. At about 3:50 p.m., WSDOT announced the two right lanes and part of the left lane were blocked as a result.
By 3:54 p.m., Washington State Patrol troopers had responded to the scene, where they remained for at least 50 minutes, suggesting a more involved emergency response.
While only the right lane was reported blocked at 4:48 p.m., at traffic backup had stretched over two miles back to State Route 532.
UPDATE: The collision on NB I-5 near 300th St. NW (MP 215) is now only blocking the right lane.
