SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA – An 83-year-old woman lost her life Thursday evening as a result of a head-on collision in Lynnwood involving a kidnapping suspect, reports KOMO News.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies were initially pursuing a suspect, who was also linked to a domestic violence assault, when the suspect entered State Route 525 in the wrong direction.

Not long after the chase was terminated, officials say the suspect’s vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming and uninvolved vehicle on the northbound highway, shortly before 8:00 p.m.

An investigation remains ongoing, but the Washington State Patrol confirmed that the elderly woman, a Lynnwood resident, was killed in the collision.

A stretch of SR-525 was shut down for over eight hours during the emergency response and investigation.

Just before 3:40 a.m. the next morning, more than 7.5 hours later, crews had cleared the scene and all lanes were reopened to the public.
