SEATTLE, WA — Authorities responded to a wreck Monday evening on State Route 523 in northeast Seattle’s Kenwood neighborhood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of the highway at 24th Avenue Northeast (SR-522). It was first reported by WSDOT at 5:05 p.m. Washington State Patrol troopers and WSDOT’s Incident Response Team arrived on the scene by 5:27 p.m.
It’s unclear what led up to the crash, but a section of the eastbound highway remained closed for nearly 50 minutes. Motorists were warned of delays impacting the area, and alternate routes were recommended.

By 5:54 p.m., crews had cleared the scene from the roadway, leaving all travel lanes open to traffic.
