KING COUNTY, WA — A four-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon in southeast Renton has claimed the lives of four people and left four others injured, three critically, reports KOMO News.
The fatal accident unfolded in the 19200 block of 140th Avenue Southeast shortly before 12:45 p.m., prompting a “mass casualty incident” response from the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), the Puget Sound Fire Division, and multiple other agencies.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains open and ongoing, but first responders pronounced four people deceased at the scene.
Three other victims were rushed to a hospital near Seattle for injuries deemed “life-threatening.” A fourth person was said to have suffered only minor injuries.
At 2:30 p.m., officials announced that an extended closure of the intersection was anticipated to accommodate an investigation. Motorists were asked to find alternate routes for their evening commute home to avoid bottleneck traffic in the area.
