PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person lost their life Tuesday evening following a semi-truck wreck Tuesday evening in Lakewood that left another person with life-threatening injuries, according to King 5.
The accident happened on a northbound stretch of I-5 under the 47th Avenue overpass, shortly before 6:00 p.m.
Details remain limited, but Washington State Patrol officials confirmed one person was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another person suffered critical injuries, but no other information regarding their condition has been confirmed.
Multiple lanes and the Bridgeport Way entrance ramp were shut down following the wreck. At the time of the initial report, a five-mile traffic backup had already formed in the area. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes around the area.
