THURSTON COUNTY, WA — A 17-year-old girl was killed Sunday evening as a result of a two-vehicle crash involving a DUI suspect in Rainier, according to KOMO News.

The fatal collision occurred in the 13800 block of Rainier Road Southeast at about 5:45 p.m.

An investigation by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office indicates an 18-year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle, which traveled into the oncoming traffic lane. His car was struck on the passenger side by a southbound vehicle.

Officials confirmed the 17-year-old girl, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the suspect vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The teen driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. The other driver, who suffered injuries considered non-life-threatening, was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital.

Responding officers said the teen driver, who displayed signs of intoxication at the scene, was processed for Driving Under the Influence. He faces charges of Vehicular Homicide and Vehicular Assault.
