KITTITAS COUNTY, WA — A male driver was rescued Saturday night after a single-vehicle wreck left him trapped and hidden away in southeast Ellensburg, reports KOMO News.

The accident sent the victim’s vehicle into a secluded area about a mile from the intersection of Thrall Road and Canyon Road.

Officials with the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call from the victim’s girlfriend, who was worried about his safety after not hearing from him for an extended time.

KCSO deputies and Ellensburg Police were able to locate a ping from the victim’s cell phone in the Woodhouse Loop area south of Ellensburg. After a 40-minute search of the area, officials spotted tracks that led them to a crashed car about 50 yards through brush.

Medics worked to extricate the trapped driver, who suffered multiple injuries and exposure from the cold. He received treatment at the scene and was airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. No updates on his condition have been disclosed.
