PIERCE COUNTY, WA — The Washington State Patrol investigated two consecutive crashes involving WSDOT vehicles Friday morning on Interstate 5 near south Tacoma, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

The pair of collisions occurred near 56th Street and was first reported by KIRO 7 at 8:26 a.m.

Authorities said one Washington State Department of Transportation truck was sweeping the interstate when it was struck by a passenger car. As a second WSDOT truck responded to the accident, that truck was hit by another vehicle.

No information regarding the striking drivers has been disclosed, but the WSP confirmed no WSDOT crew members were injured in the crashes.

It was not immediately clear whether any charges or citations are expected to be filed.

WSP troopers continue to investigate.
