SKAGIT COUNTY, WA — A 64-year-old Blaine resident died Sunday night after a crash involving two motorcycles on State Route 20 in Mount Vernon, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.
Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene at Laconner Whitney Road.
A preliminary investigation found the Blaine motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Laconner Whitney Road on a green light at the same time a 30-year-old Snohomish man was riding a motorcycle eastbound on SR-20. Officials said the Snohomish motorcyclist ran a red light and struck the Blaine rider, who died from their injuries at the scene.
Medics rushed the Snohomish man by airlift to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. No updates on their condition have been released at this time.
Authorities noted both riders possessed motorcycle endorsements and were wearing helmets compliant with the Department of Transportation.
The WSP continues to investigation the fatal accident.
