KING COUNTY, WA — A 56-year-old man died Saturday night after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on State Route 167 near northwest Auburn, according to Auburn Reporter.

The fatal accident occurred on the southbound highway near 15th Street Northwest, on July 9 at around 9:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by the Washington State Patrol found that the man was riding southbound in the right lane when he merged into the far left lane behind a southbound Audi.

Officials said the motorcyclist was unable to reduce speed in time, causing him to hit the back of the Audi. Upon impact, the rider lost control, fell and slid about 30 yards until he came to a stop on the right shoulder. The Audi came to a rest nearly 50 yards away from the crash site on the right shoulder.

The rider, an Auburn resident, died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed the WSP.

No injuries to the other driver were reported.

At this time, officials have not provided further information.
