KING COUNTY, WA — A motorcyclist was hospitalized Monday night after being struck by a vehicle on State Route 516 in Kent, reports FOX13 Seattle.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the events unfolded when the rider “laid the motorcycle down” a maneuver that results in the bike sliding, instead of bouncing, before a crash.

Authorities said as the rider got up on his feet after having been ejected from his motorcycle, he was struck by a car.

A witness attempted to record the incident from inside a third vehicle, but the vehicle was hit as the second vehicle fled the scene.

WSP said the injured motorcyclist was placed under custody for suspected intoxication and then transported to Valley Medical Center. No updates on their condition have been shared at this time.

Troopers were later able to locate the striking vehicle, which had been abandoned by the suspect driver at a nearby apartment complex.

An investigation and search for the suspect remain ongoing.
