KING COUNTY, WA — A 35-year-old man died last Friday afternoon after being hit by a driver on Interstate 5 near Kent’s Midway neighborhood, according to Kent Reporter.

The fatal incident took place on the northbound lanes, just north of South 260th Street and South 259th Place, on March 25 at around 4:32 p.m.

An investigation by the Washington State Patrol indicates a 63-year-old man was driving a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup truck northbound in lane 5 when he struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the HOV lane from east to west.

The victim, a Lakewood resident, died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed WSP.

Authorities shut down a section of the northbound interstate for more than two hours during an investigation. As of this writing, the circumstances behind the crash have not been disclosed to the public.
