PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Two people were injured Thursday morning after a multi-vehicle crash involving a concrete mixer truck near downtown Sumner, according to The News Tribune.

The accident occurred on the westbound lanes of State Route 410 just east before Traffic Avenue at around 7:28 a.m.

A preliminary investigation by Washington State Patrol indicates a 21-year-old female driver veered to the right lane, where she hit the mixer truck, causing it to overturn. She then veered back into the left lanes, where she rear-ended another car and sent it into another vehicle.

WSP said the woman was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for neck pain as a precautionary measure.

The driver of the mixer truck, a 54-year-old man, suffered back injuries and was also transported to a hospital. No updates on his condition have been disclosed.

All westbound lanes were shut down during the response but were reopened by noon.
