News: Woman hospitalized after being hit by driver in downtown Edmonds

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A Mill Creek woman was injured Saturday evening when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in downtown Edmonds, according to My Edmonds News.

Edmonds police said the incident occurred at the intersection of 5th Avenue South and Walnut Street at around 6:30 p.m.

The victim and a friend were walking from a nearby restaurant and were crossing 5th Avenue South in a marked crosswalk when she was was hit by a northbound vehicle as it turned left onto Walnut Street.

Authorities said the victim was transported by ambulance to Swedish Edmonds Hospital with a potentially broken arm.

The driver, who remained at the scene, told responding officers she did not see the pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Edmonds police said they have been unable to determine who is at fault “based on conditions at the scene” because there were no third-party witnesses to the event. As of this writing, no citations have been issued.
