SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A woman was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a passenger train in Everett’s Lowell area, according to My Everett News.

Authorities say the incident occurred about 1000 yards south of the Lowell-Snohomish River Road crossing.

The train was heading southbound when it made contact with the pedestrian.

After the train came to a stop, crew members exited the train and located the woman, who was said to be standing on the tracks.

The victim was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center with obvious injuries, but the severity of her condition has not been disclosed.

The crossing remained closed for nearly 30 minutes during the response.

An investigation by Everett Police and Burlington Northern Officials was underway.
