News: Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Maple Valley

KING COUNTY, WA — A pedestrian died Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a BNSF train in south Maple Valley, according to KOMO News.

Crews with Puget Sound Fire responded to the scene in the 28300 block of 216th Avenue at about 4:20 p.m.

Little information has been released at this time, but authorities say the pedestrian was struck by an empty train heading east.

Officials from BNSF Railway and King County Sheriff’s Office both confirmed the victim died from their injuries at the scene.

The road was closed to traffic as the investigation was conducted.
