TACOMA, WA — One person was hospitalized Monday evening after a Pierce County Transit bus crashed into a backyard in the Lincoln International District of Tacoma, according to KOMO News.

Crews with Tacoma Fire responded to the incident near South 37th Street and South Thompson Avenue shortly before 8:49 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found the bus was attempting to avoid crashing into a pickup truck when it swerved through the yard.

One person was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Three other people were examined by medics on scene, though no other significant injuries were reported.

It was not immediately clear whether the person was injured while on the bus or in the pickup truck.

The Tacoma Police Department said an investigation remains active.
