MERCER ISLAND, WA — A semi-truck crash on Mercer Island early Friday morning left its driver dead and a passenger injured, according to Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol for King County.
Just before 2am a semi went off the roadway WB 90 near MP 43. The driver suffered a medical episode and unfortunately did not survive. The passenger sustained bumps and bruises. This will be a long term recovery effort. #UseCaution through the area. pic.twitter.com/fo3LILpYbP

The incident occurred just before 2:00 a.m. on I-90 westbound around milepost 43. Trooper Johnson said the driver suffered a medical episode as the vehicle left the roadway. The passenger’s injuries are apparently minor.
A photo shared by the trooper shows the trailer of the truck at an angle on an embankment.
Traffic in the area will be affected for some time to come, as emergency crews clear the incident from the roadway.
