SEATTLE, WA – According to KOMO News, the driver of a semi-truck who crashed onto Interstate 5 south from the Northeast 80th Street overpass on Tuesday morning was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Authorities say the driver was traveling on NE 80th Street when he lost control of the large box truck and left the roadway, crashing down the steep embankment of the overpass onto the freeway. The truck was then sent across all lanes of I-5 south before crashing into a concrete barrier to the left of the roadway.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, the box truck was the only vehicle involved.

Following the accident, the left three southbound lanes of I-5 were blocked until the scene was cleared around 6:00 a.m.

Seattle Police determined impaired driving may have played a role and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
