SEATTLE, WA — A man died Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, reports King 5.

The fatal incident occurred near 4th Avenue South and South Holgate Street, about a block south of T-Mobile Park, at about 10:35 a.m.

According to the Seattle Police Department, a male driver in a Jeep was pulling out of a parking lot near the intersection and was facing south while yielding to traffic. As the driver turned onto the northbound lanes of 4th Avenue, he hit the cyclist, who had been approached southbound from the north.

The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, who did not suspect him of impairment.

All lanes of 4th Avenue South between Holgate Street and Massachusetts Street were blocked during the response.

No further information has been shared, but an investigation remains in progress.
