DOUGLAS COUNTY, WA — A 38-year-old Seattle woman faces felony DUI charges after striking and injuring two bicyclists Sunday afternoon on State Route 28 near Rock Island, according to KPQ.

The incident took place on the westbound highway south of Palisades Road on March 27, shortly after 1:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was driving a 2009 Infiniti G37 westbound when her vehicle veered to the right of the roadway and struck the back of two of eight cyclists riding together along the shoulder.

Two Tacoma riders, aged 53 and 43, suffered undisclosed injuries and were transported to Central Washington Hospital.

The driver was also taken to the hospital with injuries. Washington State Patrol said troopers found the suspect to be intoxicated at the scene. She has since been charged with felony vehicular assault.

No further information has been shared at this time.
