Bus company and bus driver face lawsuits in deadly bus crash

For various reasons such as fear of flying, anxiety and cost, traveling by air for some people may not be the best option. As an alternative, many routinely travel by bus to destinations near and far. Traveling by bus is a convenient, efficient and fairly safe form of transportation. Nevertheless, there are times when bus accidents happen and result in serious injury and death.

Washington bus driver causes accident

Everyday children and teenagers pile onto school busses. Whether it's just another regular day of class or a field trip or sporting event, parents and caregivers all trust the bus driver to carry their children safely to the desired destination. Driving a school bus is an enormous responsibility and should be treated as such.

Seattle bicyclist goes for coffee after being hit by public bus

Seattle residents have a reputation for loving their coffee. On January 8, a local 32-year-old may have helped solidify that reputation by making a nearby coffee shop his first stop after being hit by a bus while trying to cross Third Avenue on his bicycle.

Washington residents among bus accident victims

Investigators say that it may take a month or longer to determine whether the driver was at fault for the December 30 crash that sent a private bus over the edge of a winding mountain road and killed at least three people with ties to Washington state and the Seattle area. The bus accident resulted in at least nine fatalities and forced rescue crews to struggle with the challenge of retrieving injured victims from the bottom of a 200 foot slope in winter conditions.

Multiple bus companies deemed dangerous, shut down by feds

Seattle residents may have heard that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration shut down more than 27 commercial bus operations on the East Coast this week--in the largest federal shutdown on the industry. The federal agency shut the curbside bus companies down for safety violations, alleging that they posed hazards to public safety.

Central Wash. school bus crash remains under investigation

It does not appear that any information has been released about what might have caused the school bus crash in central Washington last week that injured 39 students. There is much to investigate in bus accidents--including the driver's history, log books, vehicle maintenance records as well as information about the bus company.

More than 700 assaults, disturbances on Seattle bus routes

Many Seattle area residents are probably unaware that private and public bus drivers have a duty to maintain the safety of their passengers. In some cases, a bus driver can be held accountable if he or she failed to protect one passenger from another.
