Pedestrian accident kills Washington jogger

Seattle fitness buffs may want to take note of a disturbing recent incident that led to the death of a jogger in Olympia. According to reports, a 59 year old man was fatally struck by a Jeep while crossing an intersection during an early morning jog. Despite the fact that some of the people who rushed to help the man were nurses, he died at the location of the accident.

Hit-and-run pedestrian accident sends student to Seattle hospital

Questions abound as police try to sort through conflicting witness reports for any useful information that will help track down the driver to blame for a hit-and-run that sent a Western Washington University freshman and her friend to the hospital on January 18. The freshman suffered severe injuries that prompted doctors to have her transported to a Seattle Hospital for surgery.

New campaign to curb texting while driving in Washington

Thanks to a recent public safety campaign featuring Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson, Seattle residents may be increasing their awareness and understanding of the dangers of texting while driving. The likelihood of getting into an accident increases by 24 times when a person tries to send a text message while driving.

Washington pedestrian hit by car on Pacific Highway

A 55-year-old Edmonds man received treatment at a Seattle-area hospital on Nov. 27 after being hit by a car while crossing the Pacific Highway. According to police, the injured man was not using a marked crosswalk when he stepped into the path of a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old local resident. Fortunately, the pedestrian appears not to have suffered terribly severe injuries, but he did receive treatment for injuries to his right leg.

Hit-and-run dump truck seriously injures Seattle bicyclist

Washington law treats bicycles as legal road vehicles and confers upon bicyclists all the same rights and responsibilities that apply to drivers of motor vehicles. Wheelchair struck in Washington pedestrian accident

A 68-year-old man found himself in a Seattle hospital after a November 9 accident in Port Hadlock. The man, a well known resident of his community, had to be airlifted for medical treatment after being struck by a 1984 Ford van while crossing the street in his motorized wheelchair.

Pedestrian accident in North Seattle followed by other crash

An Oct. 23 accident investigation in North Seattle became the scene of a second crash that sent a police officer to the hospital with minor injuries. Police responded to a pedestrian accident on the 5900 block of Aurora Avenue North involving a man hit by a car as he tried to cross the highway at around 9:15 p.m. During the investigation of the pedestrian accident, a woman ran into a parked police car while attempting to drive through the scene.

Pedestrian accidents a real risk on Halloween

As Seattle parents gear up to take their kids out trick-or-treating, adults may also want to consider using Halloween festivities as an opportunity to remind children about the importance of traffic safety. Although the number of children involved in pedestrian accidents increases only slightly on Halloween, the fact remains that children were killed or injured in at least six cities last year.

Bus crossing accident sends eight-year-old to Seattle hospital

An eight-year-old girl arrived at a Seattle hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing the street on September 30. According to reports, the pedestrian accident took place after the girl disembarked from a school bus and was hit by a Dodge Durango. At last report, it remained unclear whether the driver of the Durango violated traffic laws.

In Seattle, 'Ghost bikes' appear at scenes of bicycle accidents

Here in Seattle, many residents have seen white memorial bicycles placed at the scene of fatal bicycle accidents. Residents may not be aware that these memorials, called Ghost Bikes, are showing up all over the world.
