MOUNT VERNON, WA – According to authorities, the woman who was killed in the previously reported Hwy 20 crash near Lake Campbell on Dec. 18th was not at fault despite initial reports stating so.
The preliminary investigation by the Washington State Patrol initially established that 35-year-old Sonja Bratz of Bellingham caused the crash by crossing into oncoming traffic on Highway 20 and striking a car driven by 45-year-old Hope Noyes of Anacortes. Bratz was pronounced dead at the scene. Noyes was critically injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center by helicopter.
KPUG 1170 provided an update Tuesday stating that investigators later discovered it was Noyes who caused the collision by crossing into the oncoming southbound lane, colliding with Bratz’s vehicle.
No further information on the condition of Noyes was released. If more details are made public, we will provide another update.
