Update: Car hauler driver booked into jail after crash with school bus in Lacey 

LACEY, WA – Washington State Patrol arrested and booked a car hauler driver into jail after a crash with a school bus that happened Thursday morning. 

According to new information troopers shared with KOMONews, the car hauler driver rear-ended the school bus while driving on I-5. The collision occurred around 7 a.m. and warranted a response from Washington State Patrol’s commercial vehicle law enforcement officers. 

EMS crews were also dispatched to the scene and transported four people to a hospital. Officials said two adults were on board the bus and did not transport any children. 

The truck driver was booked into the Thurston County Jail and was charged with a gross misdemeanor charge of operating a commercial vehicle without a valid license. He has since been identified as 40-year-old Juan Hernandez-Santos from Huentitlan, Mexico. 

Authorities shut down I-5 for several hours and have lifted all lane closures since.
