Two seriously injured in wrong-way crash near Port Orchard

PORT ORCHARD, WA — Two drivers sustained serious injuries Sunday after a wrong-way crash on State Route 16 near Port Orchard.

The driver of a sedan crashed the vehicle into a pickup truck close to SR 16 eastbound and the Mullenix Road onramp.

Authorities were first called by witnesses who sighted the sedan driving west in the highway’s eastbound lanes approaching Wollochet Drive north of Gig Harbor, said Washington State Patrol troopers.

Both drivers were transported to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

SR 16 eastbound was partially closed until 6:30 p.m. as troopers conducted an investigation.
