News: WSP trooper hurt as car hits cruiser off I-90 near SE Bellevue

KING COUNTY, WA — A Washington State Patrol trooper was hospitalized early Saturday after their cruiser was struck by another car on Interstate 90 near Bellevue, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

The accident occurred on the eastbound side of I-90 near Exit 13 to West Lake Sammamish Parkway, shortly after 3:00 a.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the trooper was sitting in their cruiser along the shoulder of the highway when the vehicle was hit by another car that had veered off the roadway.

The trooper, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the striking vehicle, who remained at the scene, declined medical treatment.

An investigation was underway, but drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
