News: WSP responds to chain-reaction crash on I-5 in Tacoma

TACOMA, WA – A three-vehicle collision occurred on N I-5 south of WA-512 yesterday near where Washington State Patrol troopers were responding to a previous two-car crash.

According to WSP District 1 PIO Ryan Burke, troopers were working the scene of a possible DUI collision between a car and a semi, which caused traffic to back up in the area. A pickup truck that was following a Volkswagen Jetta too closely was unable to stop in time when the Jetta began to slow for the wreck, rear-ending it and shoving it into a third vehicle.

Fortunately, no one appeared to be hurt in the collision. Burke did not say whether the prior accident had resulted in injuries.
