News: WSP arrest driver involved in fatal hit-and-run accident on I-5 near La Center

LA CENTER, WA – Detectives with the Washington State Patrol have arrested the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Interstate 5 South near La Center on Sunday, Jan 31st.

According to a WSP press memo, troopers responded to the scene just north of exit 16 around 9:48 a.m., after passing motorists found a woman face down in the right shoulder with fatal injuries.

When troopers arrived, they discovered the accident was a hit-and-run.

The victim was identified by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office as 33-year-old Kendra Fain from Southerlin, OR.

The investigation led the Clark County Major Crimes Unit and WSP detectives to identify Lacee Cabrera as a suspect. The report stated that Cabrera and Fain were acquainted and riding in the same white Toyota 4-Runner at the time of the incident. After the women got into an argument, Fain exited the vehicle while it was traveling at highway speeds and fell to the ground. Cabrera continued traveling southbound towards Vancouver, WA, and failed to report the accident to authorities.

The WSP continued their investigation after arresting Cabrera. They urge anyone with information regarding the events that led to the accident to call Detective Sergeant Justin Maier at (360) 449-7941.
