OLYMPIA, WA – Washington Department of Transportation crews had to close all of I-5 South along 2nd Avenue due to a tractor-trailer jackknife collision on Friday morning.
KOMO News said that Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts first announced the crash at 9:19 a.m. and said traffic was being rerouted toward U.S. 101 North. Preliminary details show that the truck driver, who was transporting two unloaded trailers, missed a curve, causing them to crash into a concrete barrier between the interstates’ north and southbound lanes and their truck to jackknife.
Fuel from the truck spilled onto the road.
WS-DOT crews reopened the left and center lanes and left a right lane open to accommodate the flow of traffic. At the time of the reporting, delays were expected to last in Olympia and Lacey as crews worked to contain and clean up the spill and debris.
Slick road conditions appeared to have been a contributing factor in the collision.
No injuries were reported.
