SEATTLE, WA — A construction worker was struck in the chest by an 11,000 pound beam and killed Wednesday while at the State Route 520 Montlake Project site in Seattle, according to KOMO News.
The accident happened just after 5:00 p.m. at the project’s location along the 2500 block of Lake Washington Boulevard East.
Crews working on-site attended to the 45-year-old male victim, freeing him from between the beam that hit him and the flatbed of a semi-truck.
CPR was performed on the man before paramedics arrived, but the man succumbed to his injuries while in transit to the hospital, said a spokesperson with the Seattle Fire Department.
