KING COUNTY, WA — A woman in her mid-20s has died following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash early Tuesday in southwest Redmond, according to KOMO News.
Redmond Police said the fatal incident occurred in the 14300 block of Old Redmond Road, just southwest of Grass Lawn Park. Officers responded to the scene at about 4:15 a.m.
The circumstances behind the event were not immediately clear, but the young woman was not in a marked crosswalk at the time, and the striking vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
Authorities said the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene despite life-saving measures performed by the officers.
A section of Old Redmond Road was blocked off between 143rd Avenue Northeast and 144th Avenue Northeast. Authorities remained on the scene for over five hours during the response and initial investigation. Shortly before 10:00 a.m., the road was reopened to the public.
An investigation and search for the hit-and-run driver remain ongoing.
