News: Woman and teenage girl hospitalized after crash on US-101 near Sequim

SEQUIM, WA — A woman and a teenage girl suffered injuries Monday night in a single-vehicle accident along US Route 101 westbound near Sequim, according to Sequim Gazette.

A 2015 Kia Soul was traveling westbound on US-101 near Palo Alto Road at 10:18 p.m. when its driver, a 68-year-old Federal Way woman, failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle ran off the roadway and into an embankment 30 feet deep before hitting a tree, according to Washington State Patrol.

Both the driver and her passenger, a 13-year-old Tacoma girl, were transported to Olympic Medical Center. The next day, the driver was reported in stable condition. The girl’s condition remains undisclosed due to her underage status.

The woman was issued a citation for having wheels off the road.

Both driver and passenger were found to have been wearing seat belts, and no drugs or alcohol were suspected.

The Kia Soul sustained damages resulting in total loss.
